Video: Impressive Fireworks Show Draws Ooo's Ahhh's

The Dixon Rotary Club outdid themselves this year with an impressive fireworks show for all of Dixon to enjoy.

Was the fireworks show in Dixon going to happen this year?

It was a question that many people were asking around town when broke that the 4th of July Festival at the May Fair was cancelled this year.

However, as many patriotic Dixonites can attest to the fireworks show at Hall Park did happen and it did not fail to impress.

The Dixon Rotary Club does the fireworks show each year and this year's nearly 20-minute show drew many cheers, claps and ooo's and ahh's.

Rotarians are currently looking for donations to go towards next year's show. If you would like to keep this tradition going in Dixon, you can send your check to the Dixon Rotary Club, P.O. Box 181, Dixon CA 95620.

I would like to thank everyone who made donations towards the show. Last night we were able to get a good start towards next years goal. We raised $420.00 last night before the show. Next year will be even bigger and better!!!

Thank you Rotary Club! We invited 27 people from our church group for a "dessert", enjoyed some fireworks with neighbors in front of our home and then walked to Veteran's park with our chairs (quite a troop) to watch the Rotarian fireworks show. It was great despite the wind, which must have been problematic for those folks in charge. Like Diane (above) we all loved that perfect smiling face and even his odd, wind-shaped brothers. A friend from Vacaville, who was too ill to come, texted me and said she was enjoying the show from her bedroom window. Job well done.

Thanks to Rotary and their gallant effort to raise funds without RDA money from the city and to all who donated. Our family and friends had a great time watching from our traditional spot in the park--but this was truly one of the busiest displays we've seen. AWESOME job! And loved the smiley faces, too.

Didn't O'Reilly's just close on the other side of town? There's a 'for lease' sign on the building.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher

Thanks for the post Dean. The Dixon VFW has contributed several thousand dollars so far to bothRead More homes in Dixon and will be contributing a lot more in the future for these Vets. The housing program is managed by the North Bay Coummity Action Council (formerly known as the Fairfield/Suisun CAC). The Vets are very grateful for all the community support. One project we are trying to get funding or donations for is we need approximately 50 cubic yards ofRead More top soil to even out the back and side yards and bring them up even with the patio in the back.
