Photo Gallery: Festival of Trees Draws Locals, Motorcyclists

A popular holiday fundraising event's third year draws festive crowd

On Sunday when these photos were taken, the Kiwanis Club's annual Festival of Trees had some colorful visitors -- area motorcyclists by the dozens had arrived to make Toys for Tots donations at the same building. So the motorcyclists also entered the Legion Hall to check out the many large and small Christmas Trees uniquely decorated by local organizations.

Since the event began the day before, bid sheets next to the trees had begun to fill up with names (similar to a silent auction).

There are two competitive categories of competition: highest bid and most popular. entries had the highest bids in both previous years, while in 2010 Grand Rental Station was the most popular, and in 2009 there was a tie between and West Yost Associates.

The final day for the Festival will be Monday, December 5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission to the new Legion Hall event is free, and proceeds go toward helping Dixon Children. Even if you don't bid on something, you're bound to find new Holiday decorating ideas for your home or business. While you are there, enjoy some refreshments.
