Dixon Girls Ninth in First Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Power Ratings

Dixon High's girls basketball team would open the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs on the road if they opened today, based on power rankings that determine the 16-team tournament field.

The Rams are rated ninth in the D-III power rankings and would visit No. 8 Weston Ranch if the playoffs began today.

Weston Ranch (12-7) is ranked eighth with a power rating of 5.086. Dixon is ninth at 4.659 in the initial rankings. Sonora (11-8) is 10th at 4.623, followed closely by Valley (14-7) at 4.6513.

The top 16 teams in the final power rankings earn postseason berths. The top eight teams host first-round home games.

Sacramento is first in Division III with a 7.354 ranking and a 16-3 overall record.

The computerized power rankings are based on overall record, league record and strength of schedule. Dixon's two Golden Empire League losses came against West Campus of Sacramento, 38-26 and 52-40. West Campus is rated ninth in the Division IV power rankings.

Dixon continues its bid for a playoff spot and a playoff home game Tuesday at Capital Christian at 7:30 p.m. The Rams visit Lindhurst Thursday before coming home to finish the season Feb. 15 versus Mesa Verde and Feb. 18 against Marysville. Dixon beat Marysville, 52-40, last week.

Dixon's boys are 30th in the Division III power rankings with a rating of 1.553. The Rams are 15-8 overall and 2-4 in the GEL.
