Key to Awesomeness: Shea started volunteering at the Therapeutic Riding Center in Dixon at 14. At that time the center, which provides horse riding to youth to increase physical, social, and, emotional development, was the last place Shea thought he would have ended up.
“My mom and sister made me come…I was terrified of horses,” said Shea.

Despite his fear, Shea returned. He began to enjoy working with the kids and teaching them how to ride, observing many getting better at riding by without assistance. He was even able to get over his fear of horses.
“I like the little kids because they are really cute and funny, and it’s fun to see them get better as they go,” said Shea. “And plus the horses are really cool to work with.”
