It isn’t uncommon for Dixon political seats to be close races but the Dixon Unified School District race was so close, it’s taken nearly a month to get a final count. Today, the Office of Registrar has declared the official results with newcomers Joe DiPaola and Guy Garcia winners.
Joe DiPaola is already busy transforming his personal website for information, contact, and service for Dixon residents. His site will include a budget analysis, DUSD issues and DUSD Board issues.
“I promise to work hard, and to always put the best interests of our students first. Working together with the other School Board members, I hope to change the culture and direction of the District, and significantly improve the quality education for our students,” he said. He also thanked his supporters and former DUSD representative John Gabby for “his four years of service” to the community. See www.1us1.com for more info.

When asked about the 57 write-in votes, an Election Coordinator said that those votes were not cast toward a qualified candidate.
