DHS Multimedia Students Stand Out in SWEP Art Contest

Three Dixon High School students won awards in the county's School Water Education Program's Conserve Water Bookmark Art Contest

Water can be clear and wet, but when it comes to Dixon High Teacher Christine Long's Multimedia Arts Class - it's digital.

Long's students have been learning advanced digital design techniques all semester long and entered Solano County's School Education Water Program Conserve Water Bookmark Art Contest. On Monday, three of Long's students - Jeffrey Beukelman, Dre Wright and Santos Fernandez were recognized as winning first, second and third place, respectively, in the digital design component of the contest.

The contest sought artwork from Solano County Schools to include in a bookmark that educates students about water-related items such as water science and conservation. The teens' designs stood out from the 328 contest entries, in categories that included digital design and hand-drawn contest entries.

Among the three DHS winners, only Beukelman's First Place entry "Save Water" will be featured in SWEP's bookmarks. The students came up with their winning designs using the techniques taught in Long's class. See the attached video for more on this story.
