Solano County Garners Gold Award for Best Agricultural Display

Solano County wins the gold award for Best Agricultural Display at the California State Fair

Solano County’s green thumb turned gold at the California State Fair.

Judges announced last week the Solano County 2011 exhibit that showcases the county’s agriculture won a Gold Award and the Best Agricultural Display Award.

A giant green thumb takes center stage of a green garden patch and a green house, immersing visitors in the story of agriculture in Solano County.  As is the tradition for Solano County, the exhibit integrates a learning environment with whimsical characters, abundant memorabilia, twinkling lights, animated displays, and bushels of local produce.

The win Thursday brings the County’s award tally for its exhibits up to 59 major awards over the past twelve years.  Still up for grabs is another Solano County winning tradition – the People’s Choice Award. This top distinction is given directly by fairgoers.
