Dixon’s RDA Highlights Tonight’s City Council Agenda

The Dixon City Council will have some discussion to do tonight concerning the dismantling of its Redevelopment Agency.

Come the first of the month, Dixon’s Redevelopment Agency must be gone. Tonight, during a regular meeting of the Dixon City Council, the council will decide how it will do this.

The council, as the RDA successor agency, must essentially approve consent calendar items – one that resolves that there will be no debt forgiveness of money owed to the city by the RDA, and another that states there will be no loan forgiveness between the RDA and any public body – in order to be in compliance of state law.

In a related minute action, the council is expected to approve a resolution that calls for the city to sign a letter in support of legislation in the works that will help preserve redevelopment projects in the city and school funding by postponing the dismantling of RDAs throughout the state.

The council is also expected to vote in favor of retaining housing assets and certain functions that were under control of its redevelopment agency; a payment schedule that the successor agency – the city of Dixon – is obligated to make to the state will also need to be discussed and voted upon during tonight’s meeting

Aside from the RDA stuff, the council will act upon its Fireworks Pilot Program ordinance discussed during the last city council meeting.
