Death of Osama Bin Laden Great Victory for the U.S., Fight Against Terrorism Not Over

I was just as shocked and happy as everyone else after hearing the news that American troops had ended the life of Osama Bin Laden.

I was on Facebook and saw a post by our sports contributor, , that Fox News had confirmed Bin Laden’s death. I thought to myself “Could it be?” All thought were laid to rest when President Obama himself confirmed that he was indeed dead, and that he had given the order to do it.

It brought me back to that fateful morning of Sept. 11, 2001. Like everyone else, I was deeply saddened by the news that so many lives were lost. I was also angry that people were cheering about this attack and that Bin Laden and Al Qaeda had claimed full responsibility for it.

I never thought in my lifetime that I would see American forces kill, let alone capture, Bin Laden and bring him to justice for all the evil he has created in this world. I know that taking a life will not bring someone back – but if anyone had it coming, it was this murderer.

I also wonder what the death of Bin Laden will mean to our forces still serving oversees. Will the death embolden our enemies and make them want to somehow, avenge their leader’s death? Will it demoralize them and make them want to stop their terrorist activities? One thing is for clear to me, the war on terror didn’t die with Bin Laden and we will need to remain vigilant.

But the death of Bin Laden proves that we are up to the challenge.
