Super Bowl Party Stabbing Sends Two to Hospital

Two individuals went to the hospital with wounds Sunday night during a Super Bowl party on Valley Glen Drive

A Super Bowl party turned sour for two Dixon residents who were celebrating at a home on the 1400 block of Valley Glen Drive Sunday evening.

Police said that a couple - in their '30s - began arguing at the party when the man began stabbing himself around 7:40 p.m.

"It looks like the male was upset by what the female said," Dixon Police Sgt. Sam McInnis said. "They were both very, very intoxicated. The male started stabbing himself."

The woman tried to stop him and was hit in the arm two or more times in the process, McInnis said.

As the couple wrestled with each other, they broke numerous bottles of alcoholic beverages -- everything from hard liquor to beer -- and cut themselves with the glass shards, McInnis said.

McInnis said that the couple was barefoot and sustained cuts to their feet from the shards of broken glass.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the man was drifting in and out of conscienceness McInnis said and he was airlifted by Calstar Air Ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento for treatment.

The woman was taken to Vaca Valley Hospital by ambulance for treatment. McInnis said there were no arrests made and that the investigation is ongoing.
