Sonoma County Sheriff's Ask for Help ID'ing Area Armed Bank Robber

By Bay City News

Investigators are asking the public for their help in identifying an armed man who robbed a bank in Glen Ellen on Friday evening, Sonoma County sheriff's deputies said.

At about 5:40 p.m. on Friday, deputies were dispatched to the WestAmerica Bank located at 13751 Arnold Drive following a report of a robbery that had just occurred, sheriff's deputies said.

The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies. Witnesses provided deputies with a description of the suspect and a subsequent search of the surrounding area was unsuccessful.

Bank employees told investigators that the suspect entered the bank and demanded money from them at gunpoint. The suspect took the money, placing it into a blue backpack and then fled on foot heading north on Arnold Drive, according to deputies.

Sheriff's deputies reviewed surveillance footage from the WestAmerica Bank and have released a photo and a detailed suspect description to the public. The suspect is a white male in his mid to late 20s, standing about 6 feet tall, with red or blond hair. He was wearing a light blue long-sleeve pullover sweatshirt with khaki-colored cargo pants and dark tennis shoes with white soles.

The suspect was also wearing black sunglasses and a black ski mask with red or orange on the inside on the top of his head, deputies said.

Detectives have released a surveillance photo of the suspect to the public with the hope that someone will identify him.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the robbery is urged to contact the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Investigations Bureau at (707) 565-2185.
