The officers surrounded the home and found the family inside safe.

"I was there personally when they were evacuated from the home," Cox said. "They were actually very appreciative of the action that we took in ensuring they were safe. It was a cold and breezy morning and they were pulled out of their house rather quickly."

Chief Cox said that it was difficult to pinpoint the monetary impact of having a full response to the house, but said that the the greater impact was having resources at the home that might have otherwise been needed elsewhere.

"The most significant impact, is the risk that it puts the public when we have to respond in an emergency fashion ... the deviation of resources from our other course of duties," he said.
