Flames Destroy Rural Vacaville Home

High winds challenge Vacaville firefighters who responded to a structure fire on Acacia Lane

Vacaville firefighters along with those from Dixon and California Medical Facility dueled a structure fire in rural Vacaville this morning.

The Vacaville Fire Department received several calls this morning at 10:16 a.m., of a structure fire at a home at 7752 Acacia Lane Vacaville Fire Chief Howard Wood said.

"Our first unit got here at 10:27 this morning and found a fully involved structure fire," Wood said. "We had a structure and two vehicles and minor damage to a couple of outbuildings and a trailer."

Fire crews went to work on the fire and within an hour had the flames under containtment. High winds caused challenges for the firefighters, Wood said, as winds helped flames spread throughout the home.

Wood said the fire completely destroyed the home, causing about $300,000 worth of damange.

"It was a complete loss," Wood said.

The home was not occupied at the time that the flames began, Wood said. The homeowner was in the process of moving out.

No injuries were reported, the cause of the fire is under investigation.Thirty five firefighters responded to the scene.
