Dixon Fire Crews Save 4 People from King Road Fire

The Fire Department said there were no working smoke detectors inside the home at the time of the fire.

Four people are lucky to be alive.

On Saturday, the four individuals were sleeping inside a home in rural Dixon when it caught fire.

The Dixon Fire Department got a call about the fire at 11:34 p.m., at the home on the 8000 block of King Road, an unincorporated area just South of Dixon.

As the firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered flames coming from the porch of the multi-family home, near the front doors, according to the Fire Department.

Once inside the home, Dixon firefighters also discovered a small in the kitchen area that creeped in from the outside porch. The firefighters found four people inside the home, sleeping and unaware that a fire was consuming their home.

The intensity of the flames, caused the Dixon Fire Department to call in a second alarm, brining additional resources to Dixon.Fire crews managed to knock out the fire within 10 minutes, with the assistance of Vacaville Fire Department, Vacaville Fire District, Davis Fire Department and the Rio Vista Fire Department.

The Dixon firefighters evacuated the four occupants and they were evaluated by medical personnel. Ultimately, all four of the occupants escaped unharmed and refused medical care.

There were no working smoke detectors found in the residence, according to the Dixon Fire Department.

Fire crews remained on scene for nearly three and a half hours doing extensive overhaul due to fire extension under the raised foundation of the residence.

The cause of the fire in under investigation.
