What Business Would You Like to See in This Building?

The Fannings, owners of Bud's Pub and Grill, are the new owners of the building that once housed the old Dixon Veteran's Hall in Downtown Dixon. What type of business would you like to see go in that location?

Bud and Cherie Fanning are in the process of making the building that was the old Dixon Veterans Hall, across the street from the , structurally sound to open up a new business.

What type of business would you like to see in that location? Woud it be a high-end restaurant? Or perhaps a music hall that could host shows from touring acts, both comedy and music?

What about a movie theater or a dance hall?

What are some creative uses for that building?

Of course, the Fannings have final say in what the building will be used for. But what if you had a say in it?

I would like to see their comments and thoughts on the subject. If they want input I’d have to say a Brew Pub. UCD now has a Brewing Science program in addition to their Viticulture/enology (grape growing/wine making) programs. It would be interesting to have a restaurant featuring the graduate students spirits as well food from the Robert Mondavi Institute.

It has a stage and a small concert venue like the palms would be fun. I'm sure Cheri will make it beautiful and a great place to rent out for events.

Ooh I didn't know Bud and Cheri bought that! Whatever they choose it will be fabulous! I vote small venue for things like concerts!

I've wanted a brew pub for Dixon too, but the exterior of the old vets' hall doesn't seem very inviting for that. I'd like to see musical performances, comedy club, speakers, art shows, exhibits, dances. Too bad the front couldn't be opened up and replaced with large windows to make it look more inviting.

I agree with Gary and Bil. A brew pub with restaruant would be great.

The city had committed a little over $300,000 of RDA to redo the front facade. To include returning the old balcony. The plan was to return it to it's original look which included windows. The brew pub would be nice. However getting a liquor license would be a challenge, currently Dixon is one over the max. already. A beer and wine license would be easy to get but it would be hard to to make a go of it even with a full license. My guess is that it will be use as a hall again and rented out much the same as it was before. I think that would be a big success.

Are we able to rent that space for celebration?
