Visions For Vacancies: What Business Should Go at This Location

The old gas station sits on the corner of West A Street and South Adams. What would you like to see open at this location.

The easy answer would be gas station. But given that there is a service station , how about something more unique?

The old gas station is at the corner of West A Steet and South Adams and is for rent. What business would you ike to see at this location?

That would be SOUTH Adams. The old gas station on NORTH Adams is a realtor.

I like the idea of a food establishment, such as Korean BBQ. Wouldn't it be fun to sit at tables inside the garage area and maybe out front by the old pumps? Chicken and rice bowls, nummy!

Thank you Steve!

I would like to see a coffee place.
Gary Erwin June 16, 2012 at 02:50 pm
A photographer could use it as studio and office space.
Shelby Baldridge June 16, 2012 at 02:56 pm
Starbucks. Lol.
Or food.

What would we want to see in a run down, tired old gas station? Nothing!
I've driven by that place for about 17 years and not one bit of facility upgrade has ever been done. It's sad really. It is a great location. We all drive by it each day. If we are ever going to see a long term tennant in that site, the owner will need to do something more than a slumlord would. Just owning a building and collecting rent ain't all there is to property ownership!

Drive through coffee and bagel shop with a small store on the inside that has fresh home made ice cream and slush's for later in the summer day. Considering how old it is it's in pretty good shape and part of the towns history. Definately not the owners responibility to make it into something You'd approve of Aaron, if you want the property to be modern as you drive by, then buy it and put up something new..

How about a Richfield gas station where the attendants fill up your tank with regular or ethyl, clean the windshield, check the oil and...almost forgot! check the tire air pressure, with a smile of course. The good ol' days!

My mistake... I thought I was allowed to voice an opinion without a personal attack. I guess I was wrong.
It IS the owner's responsibility to make that property something other than an eye sore and blight on our community. No, they don't have to check with me to see if I approve, just like I don't have to check with you to see if I am posting an opinion YOU'd approve of.

I was by there just the other day and took a whole bunch of photos of the outside and inside. Someone's storing a boat in the service bay. The best use is probably still auto-related, such as a smog-test shop. Antique store?

Weekend rental for local fundraisers
citizen June 17, 2012 at 02:56 pm
That sounds like a good idea. Not much parking so maybe just a drive thru.

how about a recyle outlet, where schools can get their supplies for cheap.
that is after the owner refinishes it and rent it for cheap. better than staying closed and as an eyesor...got enough of those in the old part of Dixon. as for a coffee shop, ther's a Starbucks on ary Lane and another one at Safeway.

Well where I used to live , there was an a Drive Thur Gas station / Convient Stores ,
the really great thing I truly enjoyed was not having to get out of the car to purchase store items , as the Clerk would take your order at your car window ... Which was Great for the times for quick pick up of Milk / coffee/ eggs / bread /orange juice ...Etc etc. and even the New Paper ... And you didn't have to get all dress to grocery shop...The only time you would have to actually have to step out of your vehical , was to hand over alcohl beverages. Well they were called " GREENER PASTURES " ... THIS WAS IN LANCASTER CA.

Actually called " GREENER GARDEN PASTURES " Was very very popular establistment , especially in the Wintertime or Heat of summertime,
when I could just jam on over in my Pj's and slippers ...hahhaahaha , not having to get out ... ~:)

I agree. What an eyesore. Knock it down
Doris Camilleri June 18, 2012 at 07:28 pm
I kept thinking about that place..maybe a convenience grocery store , for the people in that area..not having to go all the way to Walmart or Safeway for bread and milk, fruit etc.

OR Pizza JOINTS.
Michael Richards June 23, 2012 at 12:09 pm
I agree with Aaron, at least throw a coat of paint on it.
Michael Richards June 23, 2012 at 12:11 pm
Gotta go with Aaron again on this one too. If Aaron bought it, then it would be on him, but as it's not then why would he want to buy it. If the current owner can't afford to properly manage it, then he should get out of the slumlord business.
Michael Richards June 23, 2012 at 12:12 pm
I think an antique store would be nice

Shawn June 12, 2013 at 07:16 pm
Didn't O'Reilly's just close on the other side of town? There's a 'for lease' sign on the building.
Lindsey Hickman June 16, 2013 at 12:32 am
It is indeed an O'Reilly's Auto Parts, relocating from the Pitt School Road/Market Lane location,Read More per Dixon City Hall.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher

Thanks for the post Dean. The Dixon VFW has contributed several thousand dollars so far to bothRead More homes in Dixon and will be contributing a lot more in the future for these Vets. The housing program is managed by the North Bay Coummity Action Council (formerly known as the Fairfield/Suisun CAC). The Vets are very grateful for all the community support. One project we are trying to get funding or donations for is we need approximately 50 cubic yards ofRead More top soil to even out the back and side yards and bring them up even with the patio in the back.

Hi Dean. Come to the next VFW meeting. I'm sure the members will support this. You might want toRead More get an estimate from Dixon Landscape Materials for a fill dirt load.
