Although gratitude should not be contained to Thanksgiving alone, it's a holiday that reminds us to be thankful for what we have.

Just the ordinary things in Dixon I guess. Enjoying the nice weather, raking leaves, playing driveway basketball with my neighbors, eating a pastrami burger at Alhelis, nice turkey dinner with family, and of course watching football.

Family, friends, beating cancer this year and the love of my life Dave for the past 49 years. Dixon of course, is the best place to live having lived here for 42 years. I hope everyone can find something to be Thankful for this year.

I'm thankful that, after 25 years, I became reaquainted with my Jr. High School crush--Shelley is the love of my life and I only wish I'd had the guts to ask her out in 1977 instead of waiting until 2002. We've been married 9 1/2 years and it feels like only weeks have passed since we were reintroduced to each other.

Didn't O'Reilly's just close on the other side of town? There's a 'for lease' sign on the building.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher

Thanks for the post Dean. The Dixon VFW has contributed several thousand dollars so far to bothRead More homes in Dixon and will be contributing a lot more in the future for these Vets. The housing program is managed by the North Bay Coummity Action Council (formerly known as the Fairfield/Suisun CAC). The Vets are very grateful for all the community support.
