Dixon Little League Victim of Embezzlement at Local Level, No Idea if Funds Will Be Recovered

Dixon Little League president, Eric Lau explains their loss, the affect on the 2014 season, and how the league plans to recoup the funds.

As recent victims of embezzlement, Dixon Little League is in search of ways to quickly recoup funds before the season opens.
According to league officials, during the course of a two-week period in May, money in the excess of $4000 was stolen from snack bar profits, money that would have otherwise covered utilities and scholarships.
In a recent press release, the league president, Eric Lau, stated:
As some of you may already know, Dixon Little League was the victim of theft, towards the middle of 2013.
To answer the questions as to what was done to recover the money and what has been done to prosecute the person, Dixon Little League has filed a report with Dixon PD and Dixon PD has placed us in touch with the Deputy D.A., who has the paperwork on his desk. We are awaiting his approval before it goes any further in the legal system.

As for the money, some of the money was brought back to the league, but there is still some outstanding and we are currently evaluating options to recoup those funds from the thief.

The League plans on prosecuting to the full extent of the law. As for what Dixon LittleLeague has done to ensure that similar incidents will never happen again, we are implementing changes to our policies and procedures, including enhanced reporting and accountability requirements for anyone handling the League's money.

Lau explained that registration fees will see a slight increase this year, however, being that it has been six-years since the last fee change, the loss of profits pushed the tabled decision to be made.

Looking for a way to support the Dixon Little League, you can plan to attend the Rotary Pancake Breakfast with Santa on November 23.
