Two local teens have students have been selected to represent Dixon youth football and cheerleading teams in the annual Sacramento Youth Football (SYF) Youth Shrine Bowl.

Eighth graders, Cody Lowrie and Lexi Riedel, were selected from dozens of Dixon players, based on sportsmanship, to participate in the community service project supporting the Ben Ali Shrine Center.

In order to participate in the Youth Shrine Bowl activities, the students are required to promote the philanthropic activities of Shriner’s in their community — starting by selling 60-tickets to the All-Star Game. Once they have sold enough tickets they officially become eligible to play in the game. From there selected players who exceed fundraising goals could go on to play a game in Florida as well.

“I am really excited to have been picked,” said Lowrie, “This is a great opportunity to help an organization that helps kids, and learn about it too.”
