Workers Repave Viva Supermarket's Parking Lot

Preparations are underway for Viva Supermarket's grand opening

Excitement and wonder are in the air in Dixon as employees work feverishly to get Viva Supermarket ready for the grand opening, which workers say is roughly seven weeks out.

Last week, laborers could be seen repaving the parking lot of the old Hometown Market. Viva Supermarket, which is based out of Sacramento, will be Dixon's newest, biggest Mexican grocery once it opens its doors.

A couple weeks ago, the supermarket to help staff the store. Talk of the new supermarket has been going on for weeks on the pages of the Patch, and in this column, including in which readers sounded off on what type of store they would like to see at the old Hometown Market location.

Nevertheless, once the new supermarket opens its doors, Dixonites will have one more place to buy everything from the Mexican staples of carne asada, pan dulce, beans and nopales, to exotic delicacies found only south of the border.
