Morning View Signs Letters of Intent With 300+ Acres of Landowners (UPDATED)

The would-be movie studio is seeking to locate in Dixon.

Planned movie studio Morning View has signed letters of intent with landowners whose property total more than 300 acres, which is how much land they need to build the studio.

CEO Carissa Carpenter and others on her team attended the Dixon City Council meeting Tuesday night, where the announcement was made. Several city councilmembers responded positively to the news after Carpenter made the announcement. (We'll post video soon).

The bulk of the footprint is on city land. The rest is on county land, and falls on three separate, non-contiguous plots.

A developer with Morning View told Dixon Patch that although this isn't the footprint Morning View set out to buy, it can work. Those three plots could be used for backlots, storage others functions, while the bulk of the studio space would sit on the 219-acre plot in Dixon.

Still, Carpenter said that the landowners who have not agreed to sign letters of intent would have a chance to do so between now and Friday, because Morning View would still prefer to develop the studio on the original footprint

After Friday passes, Carpenter said Morning View will move forward, regardless of the footprint.

Morning View's goal is to open the studio by 2015.
