(New) Signs of the Times Abound

A perfect opportunity for businesses to showcase their names and their community support is the 3rd Annual Festival of Trees sponsored by the Dixon Kiwanis Club. Businesses that sponsor a medium-sized or tall tree get publicity through newspaper articles, large signs in front of their tree, and of course, placement on the program handed to each visitor during the three-day tree auction.

Tree sponsorships for 4-foot size are only $100 and the 6-foot tree sponsors are $200. Businesses can choose to decorate their own tree or have a group of volunteer decorators do it for them. Many of the tree decorators spend all year looking for special ornaments or making them so that theirs is outstanding.

Why all the fuss? The proceeds of the event go to serve the children of our town. It’s all very exciting to see hordes of people converge on the new the morning it all kicks off and it’s even more exciting to come see how beautiful all the trees turned out.

The Kiwanis Committee has already begun solicitations so businesses will start receiving their Festival of Trees Reservations in the mail and/or will be getting a visit soon from some of Santa’s helpers.  If you are interested in sponsoring a tree or decorating one, call Kiwanis Club President Marnie Nessen at First Northern Bank for more information at (707) 678-7859 or email dixonkiwanis@hotmail.com.

Don’t forget that the last Wednesday of the month is usually a Mixer. The next one will be September 28 at an investment firm, at 1170 North Lincoln, Suite 104. The public is invited to drop by for snacks, a drink, and visiting with Matthew Swanson, the Dixon branch financial advisor, along with fellow business people. It starts at 5:30 and goes to 7 p.m. There is a $5 charge for members or $10 charge for non-members.
