'Core Fitness' Shaping Up In Dixon

Construction Begins On New Gym

After months of planning, Core Fitness, a new 10,000 square foot full service gym is beginning to take shape. Chris McCoy, a personal trainer and also the owner of Dixon Fitness has said he will be closing the facility when the new gym opens sometime this spring.

McCoy took over Dixon Fitness about four years ago and said it was time for the gym to grow. The new gym is being constructed inside the commercial complex next to Thrifty Car Sales in the Gateway Plaza. That building faces Interstate 80.

“This is something that is long over due in for Dixon,” said an enthusiastic Mark Heckey, City of Dixon Economic Development Director. “I think I’ll join.”

There will be a machines room, a weight room, a stretch and exercise room and a room for Pilates, Yoga or dance-type of exercise, he said. The gym will also feature showers. Watch for more news about its development here on the Dixon Patch.

In other business news, ',' another gym located in that same area right now at 2600 Plaza Court and owned by Jim and Brandy Hall is planning to relocate. 'Anytime Fitness' will be moving to one of the commercial suites near and on 1900 North Lincoln. Improvements have to be made to the facility first but the move may wind up about the same time as the 'Core Fitness' opening.
