Lake Solano Hosts Free Guided Tours, Register Now

Join a free, guided nature walk at Lake Solano Park on Saturday, August 10th from 10am to noon. It’s sure to be a fun and educational experience for all ages!

Lake Solano volunteers Cricket Kanouff and Kitty Van Newkoop will lead this two hour, easy-paced tour. Walk back through the mists of time to learn about the Patwin Indians, the Berryessa brothers, and John Wolfskill’s impact on the region. Discover how Putah Creek was transformed into Lake Solano, bringing water to farmers and residents of Solano County.  Learn about the native trees and plants, and some of their medicinal secrets, passed down through the generations by Native Americans. Help us look for Great Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets, Peacocks or other wildlife on the tour.  Your guides will also show you what the resident beavers have been up to!

Lake Solano Park & Campground is located at 8685 Pleasants Valley Road, just off Highway 128 near the town of Winters. Meet Cricket and Kitty at 10am in front of the Nature Center, at the west entrance of the Park. Their presentation is free, and parking is only $5 per vehicle, payable at the east entrance of the Park, on the other side of Pleasants Valley Road. No RSVP is necessary. For questions in advance, call Kitty at 707-557-9308. For same-day information, call 530-795-2990.
