Pacific Coast Winds – Free Concert!

The City of Davis and local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6949 are proud to sponsor a free concert with the United States Air Force Pacific Coast Winds on Thursday September 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

The Pacific Coast Winds is the chamber music ensemble of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. Under the direction of Captain Haley Armstrong, the group consists of a double woodwind quintet and brass quintet augmented by percussion. Pacific Coast Winds performs a broad repertoire of preeminent wind music ranging from Mozart Serenades, Stravinsky and Dukas to the antics of PDQ Bach. Drawn from the larger 45-piece Concert Band, the Pacific Coast Winds musicians are exceptionally skilled and versatile possessing music degrees from some of the most prestigious institutions in the United States and abroad.

There will only be one performance at the Veteran's Memorial Theatre, located at 203 East 14th Street in Davis. Seating is limited and will be on a first come basis. The band which is based at Travis Air Force Base dates back to 1914. Free tickets will be available to pick up beginning August 1 at the Community Services Office at City Hall.
