Dixon Musician to Host Radio Show as Celebrity Guest Halloween Day

KVMR 89.5FM radio listeners will have the chance to listen as Joe Craven shares his gift of gab, musical good humor and sharp improvisational musical skills on Oct. 31.

Acclaimed Dixon musician will host his own, Halloween day, radio show, offering his unprecedented gift of gab and musical knowledge in fundraising efforts for an independent, noncommercial station.

KVMR 89.5FM radio listeners will have the chance to listen in Oct. 31, when local music artist and educator Joe Craven, guest hosts the Nevada City station during its fall membership drive. 

Craven’s show will be live from noon to 2 p.m. Halloween day, repeating Nov. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. The broadcast will also be streaming on kvmr.org

According to his interview with The Union, there will be a pinch of spoken word, a sprinkle of theater and all in keeping with FCC guidelines.

Joe Craven is known by music in-the-knows as a greatly talented artist, who can play just about anything. Craven has made music in a diverse range that includes: multi-string instrumentalist David Lindley to Blues slide guitar master Roy Rogers, to Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia and groups from Psychograss to The Persuasions to The Horseflies. He has been boasted for his “Swinging inventiveness and authenticity” by the Los Angeles Times and called “Magical” by the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Union reports, locally, Craven has been a mainstay over the years at the annual summer California Worldfest music festival at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, where his good humor and sharp improvisational musical skills have grown quite a following from stage to stage.
