I want more adult dancing classes in Dixon, tought by teachers that live in Dixon. I have been belly dancing for over 12 years all by myself in Dixon. I drive to
Vacaville to teach and the Sacramento for workshops and parties. Why don't adults dance more its good for you.

A decent restaurant where you can take your spouse and have a quiet conversation with good food. Expensive- yes but good food and a romantic atmosphere is worth it. That means no loud canned music, no noisy children, no cell phones, ah, just a dream.

A beach Hut Deli would be nice too :)

One of the biggest changes I'd like to see in Dixon is the school district and public school system here. Have you noticed if you call the school district not only do they not answer 99 percent of the time they don't return calls? Kids are falling through the cracks at lightning speed. Even some districts outside of Dixon are calling this school district borderline negligent :(

The creation of a local theater group beyond what they do in high school. Adults, etc.

Movie theater and bowling alley, something for families especially the kids to do.Dixon is a nice small town but the only thing for kids to do is get in trouble.

Well, there is the teen center. Will be open NY Eve.
Mark December 29, 2012 at 04:16 am
Teen centers can be ok for a while. But for teens these days it will become too boring and they will roam around looking unsuccessfully for something FUN to do. With nothing in town that leads to trouble. At a minimum they will continue to hang at the skate park or in parking lots like around CVS and 7-11 and do nothing but smoke cigarettes or worse. They also hang around places like convenience stores and the SMOKE SHOP trying to get people to buy for them. Wake up parents we live in a small town and have mostly good kids BUT they are not angels. There ARE drugs in Dixon and there ARE troubled kids in Dixon. Give them something to do.

Well, I've never been to Dixon, but I've been to Oklahoma. They tell me I was born there....True. I looked Dixon up on map..not far from Davis and their Brain Farm. Be glad you are in a small town with good soil to plant in. The smaller the town, the less the problems are. The secret is to capture the people's imagination be getting them involved in community projects. Have a community "barn raising" and throw Dances in the barn. Square dancing isn't "square" It requires alot of teaching as to how and when. And, it is one heck of allot of fun. If you want a sense of power, get into square dancing. A square is compose of four people who must know exactly what to do and when. One mistake, and the square falls apart. I envy you living in Dixon. I live in Tulsa, okla (Grew up in Glendale, ca) and all the papers here ..... killings, robberies, and drug busts. Collectively, Dixonites ?? have power in unification> Don't ask your kids; tell them. Someday, I am going to visit Dixon.....God luv ye all....Bob Fishback Tulsa, ok

Katherine Westerhause ?? To answer your question about why adults dont dance much....their bellies are too big and they are infused with insecurity. Vacaville sound reminds me of a good place to manufacture Vacuum Cleaners...You sound like a leader...get the barn raising started and over see it.

That is exactly what I was going to put on here as a comment. I grew up here and boredom got me into a bit of trouble before owning a car and after....LOL. Plus it's a great family outing.....maybe even a mini golf course..... :)

Born and raised in Dixon 60's-70's and a lot of us had a great childhood in Dixon and did not get into trouble. I do agree that we need more entertainment but the lack of entertainment should not become an excuse for getting into trouble.
A movie theater, more after school groups, activities and clubs would be good.

Shawn June 12, 2013 at 07:16 pm
Didn't O'Reilly's just close on the other side of town? There's a 'for lease' sign on the building.
Lindsey Hickman June 16, 2013 at 12:32 am

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher

Thanks for the post Dean. The Dixon VFW has contributed several thousand dollars so far to bothRead More homes in Dixon and will be contributing a lot more in the future for these Vets. The housing program is managed by the North Bay Coummity Action Council (formerly known as the Fairfield/Suisun CAC). The Vets are very grateful for all the community support. One project we are trying to get funding or donations for is we need approximately 50 cubic yards ofRead More top soil to even out the back and side yards and bring them up even with the patio in the back.

Hi Dean. Come to the next VFW meeting. I'm sure the members will support this. You might want toRead More get an estimate from Dixon Landscape Materials for a fill dirt load.
