Dixon May Fair Parade Pours Through Downtown Dixon

136 years of tradition celebrated in Dixon fashion

A multitude of people flooded downtown for the 136th annual Dixon May Fair to watch the floats and demonstrations by Dixon local businesses, groups and organizations. From the Dixon Library down Highway 113 towards the fair grounds, the parade was filled with song, dance, honking, sirens, clapping and cheer.

An hour before it even began, the entire parade route was lined with chairs along the street, reserving individuals their spot to watch. The festivities kicked off with the singing of the National Anthem sung by Suzanne Lorente and a salute to our veterans of foreign wars.

The atmosphere was electric with every entry adding their own special flavor to what seemed like an endless display of tradition. The parade lasted about two hours with representatives from and Softball, , , , and a score of others.

After the parade, awards were given to the best in show in several divisions at the Leber Garden Stage in the May Fair. Winning first place for drill team seniors division was Recology for their choreographed garbage pickup routine. Winning best overall performance and taking home the first place trophy was
