Clip-N & Groom-N Gets a Lift; Shred Paper for Kid's Coats

E-Scrip brought in $20,000 that was distributed to five different local public schools in past years but it isn’t happening now simply because Dixon shoppers do not realize there Safeway E-Scrip Card has to be renewed.

Cards need to be registered every year but it is a simple phone call to do so. You can call 1-877-723-3929 to register your Safeway Savings Club Card but if you already have a card, you have to go online to select the Dixon Unified Parent Association (DUPA), which benefits three elementary Schools, , and  (see below).

Patti Sousa of Clip-N & Groom-N now feels complete—with her 6-year-old dog and cat grooming business, that is! A long-coveted hydraulic lift grooming table just arrived and is now assembled.

“It enables me to offer full service accommodations for all sizes of cats and dogs,” she said. “I already had the commercial grooming bath with ramp which also accommodates up to 160-pound dog and I have the commercial grooming dryer.” She says the new equipment will also enable her to work longer.

“I can adjust the height of the table according to the size of the dog and it keeps me healthier by saving my lower back,” she said.

Sousa is one of those people who changed careers due to the economy after moving to Dixon seven years ago and found her passion.

“I started out in the pet industry after working 15 years in the mortgage business,” she said. “I loved it and I made good money but it started going down. At first, I was a merchandiser at pet stores for a couple years then took advantage of a dog bathing position then went to the academy to get certified as a groomer and ultimately a certified dog trainer.”

Sousa, who is a native Texan, lived in a large city before discovering Dixon and has experienced a change of lifestyle here.

“A friend brought me to Dixon and I’m crazy about t his town. I don’t’ see me going ever back to the city again,” she said. I’ve been in the business for six years. Now I work my passion; I make a lot less money but I’m a lot happier.”

Sousa also offers pet sitting at her home. To make an appointment at Clip-N & Groom-N, call Sousa at (707) 635-3303.
