Sounds strange to me.

Does it really matter that he is a good teacher, that he wouldn't do something like that, thatRead More someone called the police, be it anonymous, or a tip that was setup from an ex or a student...the teacher should have known better, I might understand a gun, but drugs? Leave that crap at home, where it belongs...comeon! Surely he knows the rules on school grounds and the laws of our country
Ian Arnold May 11, 2013 at 12:07 am
@Raido - If his ex called in the tip, that would certainly be worth exploring further, but I seeRead More nothing in the story to indicate this is the case. Even if the tip was called in by an angry ex, that doesn't necessarily mean that he's innocent. I have an issue with an anonymous tip--that sounds like a setup; but the story doesn't say the tip was anonymous. It says "someone" notified the police.

Criminal neglect should be the charge, they said on the news the night before and today "do notRead More mow in this wind one spark and its your fault". So why not report the stupid persons name, he commited a crime and should be fined and outed for his stupidity.
Katharine Westerhaus April 30, 2013 at 08:23 pm
I this wind! Who mows? Hope, he gets to pay for the clean up

Not only did the Dixon Police Department due their duties as police officers. How about giving someRead More credit for the resident(s) who found these sweet children, and how about a shout out to all the staff at Lincoln Creek who went out of their way to help these little ones in need. Because that is what we do.......:)

The parents must have been very upset over this, I bet they now know to install a latch high up onRead More the door which the kids will be unable to reach.
Christina Wilson April 24, 2013 at 01:31 pm
Seriously? Did they actually return those kids to their parents?

This incident is SO SO very sad. There are lots of good folks that would not think twice to helpRead More someone in need! My heart, sorrow and prayers go out to Spencer's family. Although we cannot undo what has happened, we can reach out to his family and donate whatever we can. Whether it be donating money or reaching out to help the family in one way or another, we truly need to do something to help support his family!!! This could happen to anyone of us!!!

I drive this highway at 5:30 all the time! There is no reason for someone not to see a vehicleRead More turned over and what was the driver who hit the car doing driving on the shoulder!! I'm a friend of the family and am so sorry for their loss!!! Irresponsible drivers should be charged !
Debi Von April 19, 2013 at 04:34 pm
I'm a good friend of his aunts and I can tell you that Spencer would have stopped to help save aRead More life regardless of any circumstance. I'm sure it was still dark and hwy 80 is know for being the most dangerous hwy in calif. I've been told by AAA drivers that they use their vehichle to block reckage ahead of an accident and leave room between them so if this happens you have a better chance of survival. However Spencer may have been along side the overturned car and just reacted as they both my have been cut off by a commuter cutting in and out of traffic. I have seen women putting on makeup or chatting on the phone or texting but the investigation will find the facts. This is very sad Spencer was a musician and made custom cabinets he had a beautiful wife and small children which brought him much joy. My heart breaks for Spencer myers and his family.

Are there others under investigation who still reside at his home? I'm all for giving this man hisRead More day in court. But When it comes to the safety of our children, I feel its the responsibility of law enforcement to keep the public informed. He also shouldn't be given a bail!!! I would like to recognize and say thanks to our Police dept. here in Dixon (and in Vacaville) for taking this person off the street. Job WELL done!!!
Jamie Morris April 20, 2013 at 03:03 pm
I hope he's molested and raped in jail.....sick perv.....I'm glad I don't know him.....
Miranda Mcginnis April 17, 2013 at 10:03 pm
I know him and I WOULD trust him 100% with my children. He is a wonderful person and i'm sure all ofRead More this will be sorted out and he will be proven innocent.

Here's an explanation of how it works, via the Dixon Police Department. It's a little bitRead More convoluted, but it makes sense: "Technically he WAS placed under arrest and transported to the Solano County Jail. But because the Solano DA does not prosecute stand-alone public intoxication cases, the guy would later have been released (after sleeping it off) under the provisions of 849(b) Penal Code. From a legal standpoint on a “rap” sheet and public record, it is NOT an arrest—it is a detention only." So he was arrested, but since the DA doesn't prosecute these cases, his name isn't released, which why his name doesn't appear here.
Kim April 13, 2013 at 01:18 am
Why wasn't he arrested for public intoxication?! Or endangering other people? You have to be mightyRead More drunk to think westbound goes to Sacramento.
Aaron April 8, 2013 at 06:36 pm
The term is "take a powder", and yes, it's old school. I haven't heard it in years.Read More "The dame's beau caught me gawking at her gams. He was ready to give me the business, so I took a powder."
Ian Arnold April 8, 2013 at 04:27 pm
I'm guessing the author was using an obsolete slang term for disappearing in a hurry.
Catherine Hurd April 8, 2013 at 03:19 pm
It says they took powder after the crash. Then nothing about it in the article.
