Youth Ag Day at Solano County Fairgrounds

We need your help by volunteering or sponsoring at one of our community’s most worthy events – Youth Ag Day.

This marks the eleventh year that Youth Ag Day, hosted by the Solano County Fair, will offer a unique educational experience for third grade students in Solano County on Tuesday, March 19, 2013.  Over 2,700 third graders participated in last year’s event which provided an opportunity for students to learn about the important contributions agriculture makes to their lives in an educational and fun environment.

Youth Ag Day is a collaborative effort of dedicated volunteers along with local farmers, ranchers, businesses and agricultural agencies to provide informative and interactive displays for the students in a field trip format.  Exhibit presentations include a wide-range of topics including sheep herding, the dairy industry, farm equipment, cattle herding, composting, recycling, water management, the benefits of insects, and many other aspects of farm life.

This rewarding, educational outing is free of charge to all those who participate.  However, the classes do have to provide their own transportation.  A sponsorship of $500 will subsidize the cost of one bus to transport third graders to this event.  Any monetary donation would be appreciated.

We hope that you will become a volunteer and/or sponsor for Youth Ag Day this year by completing the attached Volunteer registration form indicating your area of interest no later than February 27, 2013. Please feel free to make copies and share the form with your friends, we can never have to many volunteers.  The third grade students of Solano County thank you in advance for your support.
