Bob Dunning of Catholic Radio will be the emcee for the evening. Dunning is a long-time columnist for the Davis Enterprise and is the host of the Catholic Bishop’s Hour on Immaculate Heart Radio, KSMH 1620AM, Monday through Friday at 11am and re-broadcasts at 9 pm.  He will also be quite entertaining, say organizers.

“We’ve got a silent auction, a 50-50 raffle, and a couple of door prizes,” said church member Tess Paxton. “The kids will be out there doing the work and we’re going to have all romantic music for good dancing. It will be a great evening.”

Dinner tickets are $35 for a single or $60 per couple and they are available at , the Parish office, and there may be some available at the door.

Valentine Cupcakes and Cookies

Even though Janis Luzzo is getting ready to make a big move next door to her expanded cake decorating and supplies store at the end of this month, she is still managing to fit time in for teaching classes. What a sweet idea to give a gift certificate to one of her classes for Valentine’s Day. A 2-hour session on making Valentine Cookies will be Thursday, February 9, from 6 to 8 pm. Class fee is $25.

If this Valentine’s Day proves to be your dream come true, you can always sign up for the Wedding Cakes Class on Sundays, February 26 and March 4, 2-4 p.m.  Fee is $40. For more information, call at (707) 693-0112 or contact Janis through her website www.everybakingmoment.com.

Blank forms are available at all the schools and in the DFS office.

Scout Sunday

The second Sunday in February is the traditional Scout Sunday that is celebrated across the nation. This is when all those who are involved in Boy and Girl Scouts are recognized in various congregations. For those in the local churches, it usually includes Campfire Boys and Girls as well as 4-H members and leaders. Students and leaders are always encouraged to wear their uniforms to church.

Planning Your Spring Vacation?

For those who are thinking even further ahead for a summer vacation time, the last day of school is Thursday, May 31 this year according to the DUSD School Calendar.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher
