Photo Gallery: Grillin', Chillin' and Cars Turn Up the Heat in Dixon

Grillin' and Chillin' 2 big success for Downtown Dixon Business Association.

This year's second edition of Grillin' and Chillin' was a great success.  Many a Dixonite came out to enjoy the ribs, chili and good company.  Next to the ribs and chili we also found Dixon's biggest car show. A total of 150 cars lined the streets, from old beat-up Ford trucks to tricked-out roadsters, this car show had something for all to admire.

Many vendors came out to sell their wares, loads of professional BBQ cooks came out from all over county. But for me, the locals stole the show.  The succulent creations of Bob -- better known by most as Cooky's Catering, BBQ, Rubs ran by Robert and Sally Dohr -- were by far the best ribs in the eyes and taste buds of this photographer and his family.

Although we sampled many more ribs, I couldn't help but think that Bob's were the best.  Now for the chili -- it was a lot harder for me to pick a winner. I find that each of them had something going for them.  Whether it was that secret ingredient or that special home-made chili spice we will never know.

The Dixon Downtown Businesses Assocation really outdid themselves at this year's Grillin' and Chillin'.

With the help of many volunteers, the city and local businesses, they put together a nice mix of professional vendors, car enthusiasts and amateur cooks. Combined with the musical entertainment this made for a great family outing.  If you missed it this year make sure to keep your calendar free for next year.
