Map: 4th of July Fireworks in Northern California, Dixon

Here are the locations of Fourth of July fireworks including Dixon's which will be at Hall Park for its traditional display. Post a comment if you know of any displays we're missing.

Just in case there is any confusion about this coming Wednesday's 4th of July Fireworks Show, the Dixon Rotary Club will once again coordinate the traditional display at Hall Park in Dixon. The fireworks will start between 9 and 9:30 pm.

"We've gotten calls where people have confused the news of the Friends of the May Fair event being cancelled with the fireworks show," said Janice Beaman, outgoing Rotary Club President.

The City of Dixon Redevlopment Agency sponsored the Dixon fireworks for many years, contributing $5,000 for the show. However, this past year, and with state budget cuts, RDA funds were stripped away from city coffers. Rotary worked harder but is still in "desperation" of more funds to cover costs, said Beaman.

"The fireworks are on for this year," she said, "But, we are seriously looking for major sponsorships or donations. Contributions can be sent to P. O. Box 181, Dixon.

It takes about 20-25 rotating volunteers to pull off the event, she explained, which involves the whole club.

"It's because we have to man the field from about 3 o'clock on," she said for safety reasons. Rotarians have been running the event for about ten years or more.

"I think the community really appreciates it," she said. Last year, and despite the legalizing of backyard fireworks here in Dixon, the park seemed unchanged from previous year's attendance. Since the show is free and the fireworks are spectacular, the show will most likely continue in the future but will take more community and business support, she said.

There are other shows around Sacramento as one can see from the map.
