Local Churches Preparing for Easter Sunday Services

An Easter Sunrise Service is planned to go along with the many Easter Sunday Services being offered throughout Dixon.

Local churches are getting ready for one of the most important dates in Christianity.

Easter Sunday is this weekend and the day will begin in Dixon with an Easter Sunday Sunrise Service at Hall Park's Amphitheater. Organized this year by Living Hope Church's Impact young adult group, the sunrise service is a long-standing tradition in Dixon and a way to start Easter Sunday services in town.

"The whole purpose is it’s a community sunrise," said Colette Boicelli, one of the organizers of this year's service. "It’s not about one church or one demoition it’s about all who believe in God, in the resurrection."

Aside from pastor Jeff Myers from , pastors from , , , , and will read scriptures and participate in this year's service.

The service begins at 6:30 a.m., and attendees are encouraged to dress in comfortable clothing, grab something warm to drink and bring blankets and chairs for the event.

Members of Dixon's Your Second Chance will be playing some tunes during the service and other musical performances are scheduled. 

"It’s just a way to love on the community," Boicelli said.

On Friday, April 6, several churches as well as the and will be hosting a free community event at Northwest Park, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., featuring an Easter Egg Hunt, children's jump houses and much more.

After the Easter Sunday Sunrise Service, several churches in Dixon will have Easter Sunday services of their own.
