Dixon Soroptimists International Gives Local Children a Boost

Dixon Soroptimist International donates $350 to the Dixon Public Library's Children's Programs.

Last week, the Soroptimists gave $350 toward this year’s Summer Reading Program at the . Soroptimist Vice-President, Cheryl Crites, explained that the club “is all about women helping women and children in the community – the Library’s efforts to promote reading and fun activities for kids during the summer fits right in.”

Funds are particularly needed to cover the cost of entertainment.  Thanks to the donation from Soroptimists as well as continued support from the Friends of the Library the line-up of performers for Summer, 2012 is more exciting and varied than ever.

A cowgirl show with country humor, rope tricks, and bull whips; a ventriloquist with a large and very talkative crow; and Wild Things, Inc, an organization that presents exotic animals, are just three of the acts already committed.  The Summer Reading Program will run from June 1 through July 19.
