Dixon High Cross Country Run on the Green 2012 (RESULTS)

Dixon High Cross Country Run on the Green 2012

Last week the Dixon High Cross Country team traveled to Woodland for the 2012 “Run on the Green” race.

The team entered the meet much better prepared than last year.  They had 21 kids attend summer camp in Lake Tahoe in 2012 whereas they had only 11 last year.  With more miles under their belts, they started something new this year – practicing pre-meet, pre-race warm-ups, starts and cools downs.

“We have more kids and we have that mental tough attitude that we had last year that has spread through the program that makes coaching both fun and easy.” said Coach Crumpacker. The DHS team had 28 kids compete Friday night and “our kids came ready to COMPETE. It was evident by their START OF EACH RACE.”

Both Varsity programs finished 2nd in this invite.  Next up for the Rams Runners is the Lagoon Valley Classic at Lagoon Valley in Vacaville this Saturday.  This year Dixon will be hosting a meet for the first time in many years, which will also be their first GEL meet on Wednesday, September 26th here in Dixon.  Mark your calenders and come out and support your runners!

Didn't O'Reilly's just close on the other side of town? There's a 'for lease' sign on the building.

It is indeed an O'Reilly's Auto Parts, relocating from the Pitt School Road/Market Lane location,Read More per Dixon City Hall.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher

Thanks for the post Dean. The Dixon VFW has contributed several thousand dollars so far to bothRead More homes in Dixon and will be contributing a lot more in the future for these Vets. The housing program is managed by the North Bay Coummity Action Council (formerly known as the Fairfield/Suisun CAC). The Vets are very grateful for all the community support. One project we are trying to get funding or donations for is we need approximately 50 cubic yards ofRead More top soil to even out the back and side yards and bring them up even with the patio in the back.
