Dixon High School athlete finals at Sac-Joaquin Swimming/Diving Sections

Article about Jaida Aikens and Sac Joaquin Swimming/Diving Sections finals.

Yesterday was the finals of the Sac-Joaquin Swimming/Diving Section championships for high school.

On Thursday at trials Dixon High School Junior, Jaida Aikens, secured a place in the top eight finals in the Varsity 100 yard freestyle event by swimming a best time of 53.67 seconds.

At finals on Saturday she clinched a 5th place finish by going 54.07 seconds.  This is the highest place finish at this meet for a Dixon High School swimmer since 2005.

Another Lady Rams swimmer finaled 5th in the Varsity 500 yard freestyle event in 2005.  Aikens has been on the high school swim team since she was a freshman.

At the 2010 Sections she made the consolation finals in the 200 yard freestyle placing 15th in the Frosh/Soph division and also made the consolation finals in the 100 yard breaststroke placing 14th her freshman year. Her sophomore year she also swam in the Frosh/Soph division and finaled top 8 in the 200 yard freestyle (6th place) and 100 yard breaststroke (7th place).

This was her first year swimming in the Varsity division at this high-level meet. She also swam in the 200 yard freestyle and prelimed in 17th place with a 1:57.50 at trials on Thursday.  Aikens is a  competitive year-round swimmer and swims for the Davis Aquadarts club team.  She hopes to continue to swim in college.

Thanks,Scott. I didn't have the official results from trials on Friday for the boys yet when I submitted the finals results for Jaida. The results for trials and finals are now available on Sac-Joaquin sections swimming website. I submitted the stats for all of the swimmers who attended sections to the Dixon Tribune. The JV (Frosh/Soph) boys placing 10th in the 200 freestyle relay prelims was fantastic.
