Home Cooking Once Again Satisfies Rams

Varsity Baseball routs West Campus 9-1

The recipe for Ram varsity baseball success seems simple: Throw in a bunch of Angel Lara on the mound (add an inning of Taylor Landis, late), keep the bases full of runners while adding a dash of timely hitting. The result: a stirring 9-1 home victory against the West Campus Warriors.

Lara gave up one (unearned) run in 6 complete innings of work. He struck out 10, allowed one hit while walking no one. The 90-pitch masterpiece featured an assortment of five different pitches, with a steady diet of fastballs.

Landis completed the game, sandwiching a bunt single and a walk, by retiring the side with two strikeouts and a one-hop comebacker.

The Ram offense scored nine runs on 10 hits with lead-off man Garrett Owens, shortstop Christopher Rost and Lara collecting two knocks apiece. Lara's first inning triple, and subsequent throwing error, accounted for the Rams' first two tallies.

The victory squares the varsity's league record at 1-1 and raises their season total to 2-4. They will play two league games next week, the first on Tuesday, March 15, at Lindhurst, followed by Thursday's St. Patrick's Day matchup at home vs. Capital Christian. Start times are 3:30 p.m., and 4 p.m., respectively.
