Giants to Honor Beaten Fan at First Home Game Against Dodgers

SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Giants tonight will dedicate their first home  game of the season against the Los Angeles Dodgers to fan Bryan Stow, who was  severely beaten outside Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles nearly two weeks ago.

The Giants are teaming up with American Medical Response, Stow's employer, to collect donations at the gates and throughout the ballpark for a fund set up to help Stow's family pay his hospital bills, said Gil Glass, a general manager at AMR.

The Giants will make an initial contribution of $10,000 to the fund and encourage fans to donate as much as they can.

"We're looking forward to a great game, having a good time and raising money for Bryan and his family," Glass said.

At the Giants home opener on Friday, the team paid tribute to Stow during the pre-game ceremonies. Stow, a 42-year-old emergency medical technician in Santa Clara County and an avid Giants fan, remains in a coma.

He was attacked by two Dodgers fans who kicked him repeatedly in the stadium parking lot after a March 31 game that the Giants lost 2-1 to the  Dodgers, police said.

Police said that when Stow's friends tried to intervene, they were also attacked. They suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene and  released, police said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the beating. Police have released sketches of the two suspects, believed to be Hispanic men between 18 and 25 years old who were wearing Dodgers clothing.

A total of $150,000 has been offered as a reward for information leading to arrests of the two men suspected of beating Stow. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call Los Angeles police at (877) 527-3247.

A barbecue fundraiser hosted by AMR on Wednesday drew a crowd of thousands in San Jose, and raised more than $140,000, according to the company. A similar drive has been planned next week in Los Angeles.
