The Dixon Youth Football teams hosted the Windsor Knights at their home opener at the Old on Aug. 27.

The Rams’ touchdown came early in the fourth quarter when running back Trevor Marshall ran off tackle and crushed his way, standing, into the end zone. The Knights would score three more times in the second half, the last being with 20 seconds left on the clock.

“The Knights came to Dixon 35 strong and that made a big difference against our team's playing time on the field” said Coach Weaver.

The Dixon Pee Wees defeated the Windsor Knights 37 – 6.  Quarterback, Mitchell Moniz, went 4 for 5 passing for 86 yards and one touchdown.  Jake Giardino had another solid day rushing.  He rushed for 43 yards on 5 carries and a touchdown adding two receptions for a total of 50 yards and another touchdown.

Jesse Camarillo couldn’t be stopped, rushing for 129 yards on 8 carries, which included a 97 yard scamper, putting the game into scrimmage in the third quarter.  Camarillo had a total of two touchdowns.  Spencer Webb was 3 for 3 kicking extra points and earned another point rushing.  Webb rushed for a total of 26 yards.

Mylan Dickerson had two carries, rushing for 6 yards and Kyle McMullen caught two passes for 7 yards.  Jerick Maghoney scored his first touchdown rushing for 24 yards on 4 carries. The twins Davon and Davonte Haywood finished the game at running back rushing for 40 yards on 6 carries.

Defense really bounced back after last week, letting Windsor into the end zone only once.  The Rams used a swarming defense to keep the Knights off balance.  They were lead by a strong defensive line which included Johnnie Bryce, Eli Short, Mace Moreno, Kurdt Ortiz, Zack Bunch, Ricardo Mejia, and Dylan Blanton.

Kyle McMullen and George Fountain shut down the outside for the Rams while Mylan Dickerson and Jerick Maghoney came big in the middle.  Maghoney finished the game with 14 tackles and Dickerson added 10 more.   Cornerbacks, Webb, Moniz, Cristobal, and Giardino, only gave up two receptions, knocking down four passes, and almost intercepting two of them.

Coach Jeff Maghoney said, “I am very proud of how all of my guys played today!  They did an excellent job.”

Dixon Jr. Midgets also came away with a huge win 29-0. Offense and defense both played well. Dixon led at half time 15-0 on a very hot day. Alex Cole had a nice 85 yard run at the start of the second half. The offensive line had a solid day of great blocking. Dixon scored again putting the game into scrimmage at 29-0. Cameron Garlick and Bryce Nakamura also added to the scoring effort.  Aaron Cruz kicked three PATs and ran in one.  All in all, the offense played well.  On the defensive side of the ball the Rams played hard and fast, led by Max Gorham, Cole, Jorge Jimenez, Dominic Castelli, KC Holtemann, George Raymond, Joey Baker and Austin Coyle.

"All 22 of my guys played well", said Head Coach Holtemann.

The last game of the day saw the Dixon Rams Midgets lose to a hungry Windsor squad 13-6.

"Just like last week we won as a team, and this week took a team effort to lose. We can't just show up and expect to win. Hopefully this was a lesson learned “ said a very disappointed Head Coach Jason Chadwick.
