Dixon Varsity Baseball Topples Marysville

Dixon hosted Marysville Thursday afternoon, but didn't show much hospitality to their division foes, racking up a score of 12-1 and inducing the 10-run rule after the fifth inning.

The Rams tallied 10 hits and seven stolen bases Thursday afternoon in Dixon, beating the Marysville Indians 12-1 and improve to 4-1 in league play.

Juniors Korey Hall and John Eldridge both hit two-run home runs for Dixon, and Christopher Rost gave up only three hits and no earned runs for the Rams, going all five innings.

"This is a young team," said head coach Scott Winslow. "There are only three returning senior players, and there are two freshmen on this team. I’m really impressed with the way they’re playing."

This victory marks the conclusion of Dixon's first league series. Although they lost to the Indians 9-3 earlier in the week, they still ended up winning the series 2-1.

"I am proud of the way we were able to come back," said Winslow. "Tuesday’s game was not a good game. We were able to refocus in practice and come back stronger today, and that’s what you look for. You can’t let things get to you, you just have to let it go and keep playing."

Dixon burst out of the gate in this game, lighting up Marysville for five hits and four runs in the first inning. They scored twice in the second inning and again in the third before having another big inning in the fourth, tallying four more runs off of four hits.

Marysville was held scoreless until the fourth inning when they picked up a run following a wild pickoff throw to third base.
