College Rugby Picks Dixon As Home For New Solano Rugby Team — Players Wanted

Are you between the ages of 18-26? Every thought about playing Rugby? It's not too late to learn, Solano Community College is building a new Rugby team that will call Dixon home.

Although just in planning stages, the Solano Rugby college team is making giant strides in its formation, calling Dixon home to the new team, recruiting now.

Regulated by the USA Rugby Governing Board, with the driving force of Dixon Youth Rugby President and Head Coach, Rob Salaber, and Solano Rugby President Wolfie Riedel, the team will host an informational/sign-up meeting on Oct. 23, 8 p.m., at the Vacaville Solano College extension campus.

"Our idea is to get kids early, before they are playing at a college level," explained team founding board member, Rick Flinn, "We are looking for kids ages 18-26 who want to play, no experience necessary. The only regulation is that players must be registered in a minimum of one Solano college class to be eligible."

The board plans to consider this year a developmental season, starting practices in November, and begin playing scrimmage games against other community college teams by January 2014.
