Donning burgundy colored caps and gowns, 29 students at Maine Prairie High School became graduates at a Wednesday ceremony.

It was a challenging road for the students of Maine Prairie High School but one that they can finally look back on with a diploma in their hands.

On Wednesday night, 29 students from Maine Prairie High entered a new chapter in their lives by becoming the graduating Class of 2012.

Donning burgundy caps and gowns, the students were honored at a graduation ceremony held at Dixon High School's Theater.

The graduation ceremony was especially symbolic for these students because it meant that they can over come seemingly impossible odds -- everything from not having enough credits to graduate, to other life challenges.

Friends and family members crowded into the theater at DHS to watch the graduation ceremony and congratulate their loved ones.
