Hall of Fame Golf Classic, Reception Dinner Aims to Raise Funds for Dixon High Athletics

Excitement is building up as the Dixon High Athletic Association prepares to announce this year’s inductees into the Dixon High School Hall of Fame. The inductees will be announced Friday night at a Homecoming Reception and Golf Tournament Awards dinner at El Macero Golf Club in Davis.

The day’s events will begin with a golf tournament that serves as a fundraiser for Dixon High School’s Athletic Program said Juan Cornejo, one of the event’s organizers.

“We are pretty close to being sold out on the golf tournament itself,” Cornejo said. “This is the 2nd Annual Golf  Tournament. All the money that we raise is for the support of Dixon High athletics.”

Although most of spots for the golf tournament are sold, there are still some foursomes for $800 still available. A foursome includes:

• Signed baseball from one of these MLB players: Will Clark, Dennis Eckersley, Ricky Henderson, Reggie Jackson, Tim Lincecum, Mike Piazza, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez or Brian Wilson, (randomly selected)
• Gift bag of various items for each golfer
• Team photo for each golfer
• Event polo for each golfer
• Dixon High Hall of Fame baseball cap
• Homecoming Reception admittance for four

Those who have no interest in golfing, but still want to support the cause can buy a ticket for the DHS Homecoming Reception and Golf Awards Ceremony and be among the first in town to know who will be inducted into this year’s Dixon High School Hall of Fame. The reception is scheduled at 5 p.m., at El Macero Golf Club.

The cost for the reception is $50 per person and includes no-host cocktails, dinner and an opportunity to bid on silent auction items. Anyone interested in attending this dinner can do so by clicking here.

“Our view is that the homecoming event is a great opportunity for people to help raise money to help support Dixon High School athletics,” Cornejo said.  “It’s also a mini reunion. To come together with all Dixon high graduates. “

Last year, with the money raised from the golf tourney and reception banquet, after paying for the end of the year induction dinner, the nonprofit Dixon High Athletic Association was able to purchase volleyball nets, poles and equipment for DHS’ Volleyball team Cornejo said.  

“We are hoping to raise more money this year to support Dixon High athletics,” Cornejo said.
