Dixon High School cheerleading tryouts will be held the week of April 7.
Interested, current 8th to 11th graders can pick up cheerleading packets in their school offices for more information about tryouts and the cheerleading program, according to organizers.
An informational meeting will be held Thursday -- March 27 -- at 6 p.m. in the DHS Multipurpose Room for candidates and their parents to meet the coaches and have answered questions about the upcoming season.
Dixon High is pleased to announce Courtney Hennigan and Korie Robinson are the returning cheer coaches for the 2014 football season.
Together, they have more than 20 years of cheerleading and coaching experience and are safety-certified through the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA) and the National Federation of State High School Associations.
They have coached with DYFC, C.A. Jacobs, DHS and Pride All-Stars, and have successfully taked teams to compete at the national level.
Last year, both junior varsity and varsity teams qualified and performed in the ProBowl halftime show in Hawaii, and two seniors qualified and performed in the London New Year’s Day Parade.
Cheerleading is where all the fun begins! There are games, rallies, camp and other exciting events.
Not only are the simple fundamentals of cheerleading exciting, but athletes will learn such life skills such as leadership, responsibility, time management, respect and teamwork.
