Dixon High Principal Ivan Chaidez Accepts Job in Napa

After 11 years at Dixon High School, Principal Ivan Chaidez has accepted a new job with the Napa Valley Unified School District

Eleven years ago Ivan Chaidez arrived at Dixon High School as a student teacher. His hard work in the classroom translated into a teaching position and eventually landed him a job as assistant principal and later as principal.

That same work ethic, and strong commitment to education has earned Chaidez another opportunity to serve students as Napa Valley Unified School District's new director of English Language Learner and Alternative Education Services.

Chaidez broke the news to his staff on Friday and sent them an e-mail, thanking them, and many others, for helping him make Dixon High School a success.

"My 11 years beginning as a student teacher, teacher, assistant principal, and principal now for four years at Dixon High School have been enjoyable, productive, full of RAM PRIDE, and professionally satisfying," Chaidez wrote. "I have relished each day of my time in the Dixon Unified School District family. The tremendous support I have received from the School Board, District Management team, the central office staff, the Dixon High faculty, staff, coaches, parents, community members, and students has been very gratifying. Without a doubt, my choice to work here for the past 11 years has led to my own professional development and a deep sense of accomplishment.

Under Chaidez' guidance the school earned the recognition of being a California Distinguished School.

"While I have been the proud leader of many efforts to improve Dixon High School, accomplishments have only come as a result of the hard work and effort of the entire school community - most especially the teachers and staff who have led and participated in these important school change efforts," Chaidez said. "It is my fervent hope that the Board of Education will continue to provide my successor with the support necessary to lead Dixon High School in dealing with the many challenges that it will face in the years ahead."

Chaidez said he will miss DHS and the relationships he has built at the school.

"I shall always cherish my time in Dixon, the great memories, and the wonderful people," he said. "It has been an exceptional time in my life and I am honored to have served you as Principal of Dixon High."
