Don't miss the first kickoff for the Dixon High School football season tonight at the DHS stadium.  Junior Varsity game begins at 5:30 p.m., and Varsity at 7:30 against McClatchy High. Weather will be beautiful, so grab a green and black sweatshirt and your cheering voice for this season opener.

"We have some great players with lots of potential," says team parent Sandy Watkins, "senior running back Korey Hall is looking to exceed last years rushing yards. The rams also have a big strong and athletic line in seniors Josh Watkins, Nico Bedoya and John Eldridge. Along with that we have Junior quarterback, Nolan Williams, who had a great season last year and juniors Jackson Bird, Sean Haney and Kyle Riley making an impact as well."

Watkins reports both teams had a great scrimmage at Woodland Christian, and showed much promise in the scrimmage against Woodlands Pioneer last Friday and they are looking forward to a great, exciting season ahead.

DHS football is starting off the season with a new and fresh coaching staff, after last year's controversial coach dismissal; Coach Besseghin and Coach Gomez have a positive forward moving attitude for the 2012-13 season.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher
