CA Jacobs Glows Pink Today (PHOTO)

CA Jacobs leadership class deemed this month's spirit day, "Pink-tober", most students participated wearing pink to school today.

"I'm wearing pink today for my grandma," says eighth grader, Samuel Palchik, dressed in a pink tutu, pink button up shirt, and dark pink tie.

Most of the junior high students at CA Jacobs this morning were wearing some sort of pink as they shuffled onto campus.

The leadership class designated "Pink-tober" this month's spirit day. 

"The leadership group came up with it on their own. They wanted to show support for breast cancer awareness month," says Leadership teacher, Kurt Riedel, "they made the signs, spread the word and rallied the school to participate."

"I think that wearing pink for breast cancer awareness month is to remember people who have fought breast cancer and show that we care," says eighth grader, Nolen Duarte wearing , "I don't have anyone in my family, but I know his [points to Palchik] grandma."

Tristen Quitugua said he is wearing hot pink duct-tape breast cancer ribbons on his shorts today for one of his middle school teachers, Mrs. Sing, and Thomas Peterson says he is sporting a pink tutu for his Aunt.
