Brand New Dixon Senior Apartments Ready for Move In- Check out the Photo Gallery

Heritage Commons, age restricted community apartment complex is now accepting applications and wait-listing names for future move in dates.

Apartments are now available at Heritage Commons for a monthly rental of either $406, $561 or $695.

With the pool, raised garden beds and solar panels complete, this complex is sure to fill up fast.

"Even if you are not ready to move now, get on our waiting list if you might like to do later," say Heritage Commons management.

Tenant comfort and "green living" were top priorities in the first phase of the complex.

According to a press release, phase one of Heritage Commons' environmental sensitivity began with the conceptual design where buildings were laid out to have long north and south faces for winter sun and short east/west faces to minimize the impact of the summer sun.

  • All windows are shaded in summer. Interior corridors were eliminated so apartments have light from two sides and cross ventilation.
  • The central courtyard and all other areas are planted with either drought-tolerant plants or have raised beds (wheelchair accessible) for resident vegetable and flower gardening.
  • A number of fruit trees will provide additional edible crops.
A landscaped "bio-swale" will cleanse storm water.
  • Within the well-insulated apartments all lighting and appliances are low energy use or Energy Star rated and all windows have high efficiency glazing and frames.
  • Certified "Cool" roofing materials were used with radiant barriers.  Exterior materials were selected for long-term durability; interior materials and construction practices were specified to maximize indoor air quality.
  • Solar energy is used to generate electricity meeting all the "common" needs such as elevators, all Community Center loads, site lighting, etc.
  • The apartments exceed state energy requirements by at least 25% and will receive "Build It Green" certification.
A neighborhood shopping center is planned across South First Street, as well as, bicycle parking and a Dixon Readi-Ride drop off that will provide options for trips to downtown.
